How to Create an Aligned Business

Travel Blog Kirsty Gaitens

Creating an aligned business all begins with who you are at your core. Your values, your goals, your purpose. It requires you to make intentional decisions in your business. Here are some things to explore:

  • Embrace curiosity and wonder. If you have a child or have children in your life, you will notice how much they explore, try new things, fall over, and get back up. I encourage you to embrace the “childlike” play into your everyday life, to unlearn the ways that are keeping you stuck and holding you back. See the world as if you are seeing it for the first time. Remove autopilot by becoming present in your routines and become more conscious about what you are doing and why you are doing it. Journal, read, write, play, and create without fear. See what unfolds.
  • Brush up on your reading. And I don’t mean getting lost in a JK Rowling novel for the 50th time. Pick up a book that is going to challenge your beliefs, to open your mind, and inspire you to discover someplace new that’s been hidden within yourself all along. There are many personal development and mindset books written by inspiring thought leaders from all around the world. I really believe that everyone resonates with different authors in their own unique way, so finding a personal development book that is right for you is an important first step to being able to understand the context that’s being communicated. Next time you’re at the bookstore or your local library, have a read through a couple of pages from novels that you gravitate toward before you dedicate yourself to the read. This will allow you to pick something that you find interesting and will provide the stepping stone to many others.

  • Practice Empathy. If you are not naturally empathetic as a person, it can be difficult to see the world and the people in it from any other perspective other than your own. This is okay, and there is nothing wrong with this; however, when you practice empathy, you are deciding to remove your ego from any and every situation you encounter and choose to really listen and understand why people may be the way they are. This is a beautiful thing. This also allows you to get curious to understand why you are the way you are. Empathy is a powerful practice for all of humanity, as it removes bias, and conflict and replaces it with compassion and love. Where there is empathy, there is connection.

Navigating a new way of understanding isn’t an easy process. You may feel uncomfortable at times, frustrated, and retrieve back to old patterns and beliefs at times. This is expected, this just means you’re growing. But I promise the journey of self-awareness is one you will forever be thankful for. It is the single most important journey that you will ever take in this lifetime. It is the journey back to who you really are before the world told you who you needed to be.
